About the Author

Patty Sheehan
Patty Sheehan is a Northwest Ohio-based writer and artist, former educator and psychotherapist whose life’s work focuses on holistic mental health and self-actualization which guided, her teaching English (ESL/ELL) in Central America and Spain, and teaching and counseling in New Mexico.
Her four published children's books focus on self-esteem, diverse learning styles, and resisting stereotypes, and remain in circulation online today. Later, while living in Kansas, exposure to factory farming expanded her healing mission to include environmental advocacy and animal justice. Then, after a decade working as an artist in New Mexico, she moved to Northwest Ohio to be near family.
She continues journalling, walking in nature, mindfulness practices and learning about the changing needs of the world. Her newest project marks her debut in upper middle-grade fiction and cover illustration. Through storytelling, Patty empowers young readers to look beyond modern distractions and reclaim their innate joy, creativity, wonder, and awe for life, learning, other people, animals and nature. And, she inspires the next generation to explore the world within using such introspective and healing tools as creative writing and sketching for self awareness and to imagine a kind sustainable future for all.
